The Santa Ynez track and field teams qualified 16 athletes to the prestigious Simi Valley Invitation Friday and Saturday, and several responded with medals and personal bests.
There are three levels of competition: Rated, Seeded, Invitational — heats and flights for these go from slowest to fastest.
For the Pirates:
Dani Losson — 1600m Rated (6:43.79 PR)
Kate Mazza — 3200m Invitational (11:39.47 PR — 5th place medalist), and 400m Seeded ( 61.11 PR — 4th place medalist)
Madison Dewett — Shot Put Rated – 25-9 PR and Discus Throw Seeded – 92-7 – 2nd place medalist
Giszelle Hrehor — Shot Put Seeded – 32-7 PR – 1st place medalist
Malia Ortiz — Discus Throw Rated – 71-4 PR
Chase Sylvia — Long Jump Seeded – 20-2 – 1st place medalist
Zachary Liljenquist — 400m Rated – 53.20 PR and 800m Invitational – 2:01.25 PR
Kassidy Finley — 300m Rated – 56.73 PR
4×400 Relay Seeded — 4:25.82 – 2nd place medalists (Kate Mazza, Opal Vander Vliet, Dani Losson, Kira Scheck.
