A huge, wall-spanning painting of Joe’s Café is launching ShelterBox USA into Miss Daisy’s Consignment and Auction House’s program that benefits charities.
The program, Consignment for a Cause, allows donors to support their favorite charities, and receive a tax write-off.
Santa Barbara artist Brad Nack used a mix of oil paint to create the five-feet-wide-by-four-feet-tall painting in the mid-1990s.
“Joe’s is an iconic and historic meeting place where Santa Barbara locals have hung out and enjoyed great times for decades,” said Nack. “I’m happy that my painting supports ShelterBox, because their team members are out there helping people who are not doing as well as we are.”
“Miss Daisy’s Consign For A Cause program gives back to the community by supporting local charities,” said store owner Glenn Novack. “We’re proud to add ShelterBox, whose mission reflects our commitment to community service especially during these challenging times for nonprofits.”
Also for sale is a sculpted angel by LeRoy Almon, whose work has hung in the Smithsonian American Art Museum. The angel and mirror are up for purchase immediately; the Joe’s painting is up for bidding which will close Dec. 7.
“Miss Daisy’s Consignment & Auction House focuses on high quality furniture, fine art and décor,” the store said. “So, no wine-stained couches or paint by numbers jobs of the owl with googley eyes.”
