Santa Barbara County sheriff’s detectives are investigating the “suspicious death” of a woman whose body was found last week in a Montecito residence.

At about 8:30 a.m. on Friday, deputies were called out to a residents on the 900 block of Park Lane on a report of an unresponsive person, said Raquel Zick, sheriff’s public information officer .

“When deputies arrived, they found an adult female deceased in the residence with suspicious circumstances,” Zick said.

Detectives and forensic technicians responded to the residence to assist with the investigation, which is ongoing, she said.

An autopsy conducted by the sheriff’s Coroner’s Bureau “made a preliminary determination that the death does not appear natural,” Zick said.

The woman’s name has not been released pending notification of relatives.

“Due to the active investigation, no additional details are available for release at this time,” Zick added.
