The Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s Office will host a National Night Out block party in Carpinteria, 6-9 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 10, in the 800 block of Linden Avenue.

National Night Out is an annual community-building campaign that promotes strong police-community partnerships, and local camaraderie to make neighborhoods safer, more caring places to live and work.

The Sheriff’s Office has partnered with the community and allied agencies to offer a chance to re-connect outdoors with the event coordinated by Community Resource Deputy Bryan Dickey.

Sheriff’s Office staff, including a K9 Unit, custody deputies and detectives from Human Resources will mingle with community members. Carpinteria Fire and California State Parks representateves will attend as well, along with agents from the DEA Ventura Field Office and Donuts, a therapy dog from the Santa Barbara County Fire Agencies Regional Peer Support Team.

“This is a night for our nation to stand together and promote awareness, safety, and neighborhood unity,” said Matt Peskin, National Project coordinator. “National Night Out showcases the vital importance of police-community partnerships and citizen involvement.

“When law enforcement and the community work closely together, some amazing things can happen.”

“I am excited to spend time with members of the Carpinteria community and to introduce them to my colleagues at the Sheriff’s Office.” Dickey said. “We are bringing a mix of team members from the Sheriff’s Office to this event, along with allied agencies and community groups for a fun summer evening.”
