Sheryll was born on January 18, 1944, and raised in Santa Maria, attending St. Mary’s Catholic School and Santa Maria High School. Upon graduation from Santa Maria High School, Sheryl attended Lawton Medical Assistant’s College in Los Angeles and completed her studies there.

She married Charles “Tyke” Minetti on December 11, 1966. They built their first home on the Corralitos Ranch in Guadalupe, where she loved continuing the western traditions she had grown up with around her pioneering grandparents, Cecilia and Ernest Wineman, in Nipomo as well as those of her in-laws, Rosalie and Clarence Minetti.

Sheryll was Tyke’s biggest fan during his stock horse show career and was so proud of his many accomplishments, both in and out of the arena. She truly was his other half in all aspects of their 54-year marriage.

In 1969, son Tommy was born and graced her with one of her favorite titles: mother. Daughter Michelle was born in 1972, and Sheryll was a devoted mother to both of them.

She supported every school, 4-H, FFA, sport and rodeo event throughout her life and was just there to watch Tommy and partner Dustin Noblitt rope in the final round of the Elks team roping at the rodeo in June. She also enjoyed visiting Michelle’s first-grade classroom and helped with so many student projects.

When Michelle started attending elementary school, Sheryll went to work as a bookkeeper in the family-owned businesses, which included the Basque House, Speed’s Deli and the Far Western Tavern, all in Guadalupe. She was a dedicated employee for almost 28 years before her retirement.

The accolade she was most proud of was being a Grandma to Kyle, Brooke, Kayla and Grace.

She was always there to applaud their accomplishments in school, sports, 4-H and FFA livestock shows. She was so excited to see Grace compete at this year’s Santa Barbara County Fair just two weeks ago with her FFA Grand Champion steer and her replacement heifer, which is now a part of the family herd.

She was so proud to see Kyle and Brooke graduate from college and start their respective careers, and see Kayla being so involved at Cal Poly and having so many new friends. She called Grace “her baby” and couldn’t believe she would be a senior at Righetti High School in the next two weeks.

Sheryll was an avid gardener and loved to cook. She took a lot of pride in the meals she prepared each branding season and loved continuing this special western ritual that was passed down from her mother-in-law, Rosalie.

Tyke and Sheryll moved to Tepusquet in 2006 and she enjoyed life at the ranch. She was always working in her beautiful yard alongside her border collie, Katie, and loved sitting by the swimming pool watching the cows she called “the girls” above. Their home is a reflection of the love she had for family and the Western way of life.

Sheryll is survived by her loving husband Charles “Tyke,” son Tommy and his wife Sara and daughter Michelle. She is also survived by the loves of her life, her grandchildren, Kyle, Brooke, Kayla and Grace. She leaves behind her brother Bob, sister-in-law Marie (Steve) and sister-in-law Susan (Paul) Righetti along with numerous nieces and nephews on both sides of her family and many cousins.
Sheryll was preceded in death by her parents Margaret and Edmund Williams, grandparents, Cecilia and Ernest Wineman, brother Gerald and sister-in-law Nancy, sister Ernie Mae and in laws Clarence and Rosalie Minetti.

A funeral mass will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, August 10, 2022, at St. Louis de Montfort Church, at 1190 E. Clark Ave. in Santa Maria, with Father Ed Jalbert presiding, followed by burial at the Santa Maria Cemetery, 1501 S. College Drive.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions be made to Sheryll’s favorite charities: Make-a-Wish Foundation or Hats for Hope, P.O. Box 139, Arroyo Grande 93421.

Arrangements are by Dudley-Hoffman Mortuary, Crematory & Memory Gardens.
