The short-handed Carpinteria girls tennis team had to adjust the lineup a bit but ended up beating a ‘never-say-die’ Fillmore squad, 15-3 in a Citrus Coast League match Thursday.

Charlotte Cooney swept her three singles sets without losing a game. Ariana Lounsbury also swept three singles sets.

“She never takes a point off and will fight for every ball and every point,” Warrior coach Charles Bryant said.

Carpinteria had to forfeit the three singles sets at the No. 3 position due to illness.

The doubles team of Elena Vargas and Maria Sanchez swept three sets without losing a game. The teams of Zahra and Sasha Porinsh and Ashley Gonzalez and Stephanie Ramirez also swept.

The Warriors are now 3-1 in CCL play and 5-3 overall.
