Carp Chalk Walk will transform Carpinteria’s downtown sidewalks into an outdoor art gallery June 8-9. Community members and visitors are invited to participate in the free event.
“We’re excited to bring back Carp Chalk Walk and celebrate creativity in our community,” said Kristina Calkins, executive director of the Lynda Fairly Carpinteria Arts Center.
“This event is a wonderful opportunity for local artists of all ages and experience levels to showcase their talent and add a splash of color to our beautiful downtown,” she said
Carp Chalk Walk participants can show off their artistic talents on designated sections of Linden and Carpinteria avenues.
Funded by the city of Carpinteria and the Downtown T Business Advisory Board, Carp Chalk Walk aims to foster a collaborative spirit in the community.
“Carp Chalk Walk is a fantastic way to activate public spaces and bring people together through art,” says Ernie Merlan, a Carp Chalk Walk coordinator and the executive director of Muralism, a nonprofit that provides work experience to adults with disabilities.
“We envision residents and visitors strolling through a vibrant outdoor art gallery, enjoying the creativity and supporting local businesses along the way,” Merlan said.
Registration for Carp Chalk Walk is free and open to all – individuals, families, nonprofits and businesses. Minors must be accompanied by an adult.
Register online at https://carpinteriaartscenter.org/carpchalkwalk.
Free art supplies will be available for pickup at the Lynda Fairly Carpinteria Arts Center, 865 Linden Ave., 10 a.m. and 5 p.m. on both event days.
