Fin Silver scored in the 80th minute to give Dos Pueblos a 4-3 win over host Cabrillo in Channel League action Saturday.

A long throw-in from Charger Josh Brennan led to a scramble in the box, and Silver managed to finish for the game winner. Silver also had two assists in the game.

“Fin Silver sees gold on his heroic day,” Dos Pueblos coach Matt York said.

The Chargers were down 2-0 nearing the end of the first half, when Silver, working hard against multiple defenders, crossed the ball to Fred Jones for a goal in the 39th minute.

Cabrillo scored again in the 60th minute to go up 3-1. The Chargers countered in the 69th minute, when Andy Duran finished on a drop kick from the Cabrillo goalie.

In the 78th minute, Duran hit a bouncing ball from the corner across the goal to Fin, who touched it to Max Early for the tying goal

Two minutes later came Silver’s game-winner.

“Also notable was senior Josh Brennan who had tremendous long throws and stout aerial defense,” York said.

“Senior Fred Jones unlocked our offense when we shifted him up as an attacker, he and Fin paired beautifully together to create multiple strong scoring chances.”

Dos Pueblos is now 4-3 in league play and Cabrillo is 2-4-2.
