Two people were taken to the hospital following a single-vehicle crash into a tree Sunday afternoon in Santa Barbara .

Shortly after 1 p.m., the Santa Barbara Police Department’s Communications Center received multiple 9-1-1 calls regarding a reported vehicle rollover at the intersection of Shoreline and Loma Alta drives, police Lt. Antonio Montojo said.

Officers and Santa Barbara City Fire Department personnel determined the vehicle had slammed into a tree, but did not roll over.

Medical personnel attended to the four occupants that were inside the vehicle, Montojo said.

The driver and another occupant were transported to Cottage Hospital to receive further medical treatment.

Police did not release names, ages and hometowns of those involved in the crash or the conditions of the two people taken to the hospital.

Santa Barbara police were investigating the circumstances surrounding the crash, including whether the driver was impaired by drugs or alcohol.

Additional information was not immediately available.
