A single-engine plane crash landed short of the Lompoc Airport runway Monday night, according to Lompoc Fire Department.
At approximately 9:15 p.m., Lompoc firefighters and police officers responded to the incident on the 1800 block of North H Street, said fire Battalion Chief Brian Federmann.
The small plane touched down near the River’s Edge Pet Lodge on the east side of H Street.
The Lompoc Airport runway is on the west side of H Street, across from the plane’s unplanned landing site.
The pilot, who was the lone person aboard, was out of the aircraft when crews arrived and apparently not injured, Federmann said.
The landing did not spark a fire or cause damage to any nearby property, Federmann added.
