In honor of National Superhero Day, Montessori Center School’s (MCS) community gathered recently in socially distanced solidarity to express their gratitude and appreciation for parents, students, faculty and staff during an unprecedented time.

The day-long, drive-by event recognized all the real-life superheroes within the school community — parents, teachers, staff and children.

Hosted in the school’s parking lot, teachers and staff held posters, rang cow bells, and waved pompoms to welcome students. Families drove by their teachers to say hello. Many families wore superhero costumes and made handmade signs for their teachers.

Montessori Center School, 401 N. Fairview Ave. in Goleta, is one of the only schools in the area providing remote learning to pre-school-aged children during this time of nationwide closures. MCS’s faculty are currently engaged in teaching remotely to students ages 18 months through 12 years old.
