Bishop Diego softball fell on the road to Grace by a score of 13-2 on Thursday.

The game was tight through the first three innings, but Grace erupted for 10 runs in the fourth inning to run away with the victory.

Tara Gregson provided a spark for the Cardinals’ offense with an inside-the-park home run in the fifth, but it wasn’t enough to prevent the mercy-rule loss.

Earlier in the game, Pilar Alvarez drove home Chelsea Hayes on a triple down the right-field line. Alvarez went 2-for-2 at the plate.

Bishop Diego will look to get its revenge against Grace on Tuesday in Santa Barbara.

Foothill Tech 14, Santa Barbara 4

The Dons dropped a non-league matchup with Foothill Tech on Thursday at Ventura College.

Madison Benedict and Vienna Mochi combined in the circle for Santa Barbara High, with just five of the 14 runs being earned. Meanwhile, the Dons’ offense managed just six hits.

“I am very happy with the pitching duo of Vienna and Madison,” Santa Barbara High head coach Julie Kittle said. “Defensively, right fielder Aleeya Zaragoza and Mochi shined.

“We are coming to the end of the season and we have very few chances left to attain some goals set early in the season. We need to dig deep as a team if those are to be reached.”

The Dons will take on Nordhoff on the road on Friday.
