The Solvang Danish Days Foundation is now taking applications for the 2024 Danish Maid.

Applicants must submit a letter of interest about their Danish family history, past participation in Danish Days, and their desire to represent the festival as Danish Maid (what the honor would mean to them).

Applicants must be willing to commit to the entire Danish Days weekend (Friday through Sunday, Sept. 20-22), and three local parades (Fourth of July, Julefest in December, and Danish Days weekend).

Preference will be given to a candidate who will be a high school senior during the fall of 2024.

The Danish Maid will have a busy few months prior to the actual Danish Days event dates, making multiple appearances at the Solvang Farmers Market and meetings of the Solvang Rotary Club, Santa Ynez Valley Rotary, Vikings of Solvang, Solvang Dania group, and Danish Brotherhood and Sisterhood.

During the festive Danish Days weekend, the Danish Maid will have honorary positions in the Danish Days Parade, and will need to be available for media interviews and other event appearances.
