Solvang Senior Center will present the second in its Health and Wellbeing Lecture Series, 4 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 10 at the center, 1745 Mission Drive, #A, Solvang.

This program, The Transform Power of Yoga and Breath Work, will be led by local yoga instructor Lynnette Kufeldt. It is designed for anyone with an interest in yoga, whether novice, experienced or just curious.

Participants will “learn about the benefits of starting a yoga practice, the different modalities of yoga and how you can incorporate yoga into your life,” Kufeldt said.

“You will also learn how yoga and breath work can help switch the mind and body from fight and flight (sympathetic nervous system) to rest and digest (parasympathetic nervous system),” she said.

“Our inaugural lecture was truly a success, and we were thrilled with the attendance,” said Ellen Albertoni, the senior center’s executive director. “This proves the point that that there are quite a number of active aging adults, 55-plus, who are eager and open to continue to learn something new.

“The center is the perfect place to find the means to enhance the quality of one’s life through education and socialization,” she said.

Reservations can be made by emailing ssctr@verizon.net or calling 805- 688-3793.
