A new seating package will now be part of the Solvang Festival Theater’s renovation project on schedule to be completed in July. The new seats, in Royal Copenhagen Blue, were not a part of the original construction plan.
“We’ve been asked hundreds of times if we were getting new seats, and now the answer is yes,” said Chris Nielsen, Theaterfest Board member and chair of the construction project team.
The old seats, which were purchased from a stadium in Cleveland, Ohio, and installed a year after the theater opened in 1974, will be available to the public for a $100 donation per seat to the Theater’s Capital Campaign.
Those interested in the old seats can visit the Theaterfest business office across from the theater, 9 a.m.-4 p.m. Monday-Friday, April 11 through 22 and identify which and how many seats they would like. The seats will be available for pick-up starting April 25.
The theater renovation project will accomplish the following key elements: Ensure structural integrity; upgrade electrical, lighting, and sound technology; assure safety for audience, stage crew and staff; fully comply with the Americans with Disabilities Act; reduce wind and noise for the audience.
