A Solvang man has been arrested following a robbery at a market on Tuesday night.
Santa Barbara County sheriff’s deputies were dispatched at 8:40 p.m. to the Solvang Market & Deli, 475 5th St., for a report of a man brandishing a knife, according to Lt. Rob Minter.
“While inside the market he demanded and stole a clerk’s cell phone,” Minter said, adding the man fled the scene before deputies arrived.
The suspect, Steven Virgen, 24, was later located at his residence in the 400 block of Fifth Street but refused to exit upon deputies’ numerous requests.
Deputies obtained a search and arrest warrant and subsequently took Virgen into custody without incident.
Virgen was booked into the Santa Barbara County Jail for robbery with bail set at $100,000, according to the Sheriff’s Office.
