The Foodbank of Santa Barbara County will host its 27th annual Santa Barbara Empty Bowls lunch fundraiser, Sunday, Nov. 10 at its new Sharehouse, 82 Coromar Drive, Goleta.
The popular community event brings together supporters to raise funds and awareness for the Foodbank’s programs that help combat food insecurity in the region.
To accommodate attendees throughout the day, there will be four seating times: 11 a.m., noon, 1 p.m. and 2 p.m.
Tickets are $30 and can be purchased online at www.foodbanksbc.org/sbeb24.
In preparation for the event, there will be a Bowl Glazing Workshop, 10 a.m.-noon Sunday, Oct. 27 at Maker House, 1351 Holiday Hill Road, Goleta.
Participants are invited to decorate and glaze ceramic bowls that will be used during the Empty Bowls lunch. The pre-event activity offers a creative way for community members to contribute to the event.
Tickets for the bowl-glazing workshop can be purchased for $65 at https://donate.foodbanksbc.org/bowlglazing27.
Those attending the Nov. 10 fundraiser will enjoy gourmet soups provided by Food from the Heart, and fresh bread from Hove’s Loves, and be able to select from hundreds of hand-crafted bowls — a symbol of the fight against hunger.
This year’s event will feature a Holiday Marketplace and Artisan Gallery showcasing pottery and ceramics, including succulents in ceramic arrangements.
All proceeds from the marketplace will help provide nutritious food to families and individuals facing food insecurity this holiday season.
At the luncheon, offsite parking will be available at Apeel, 71 S. Los Carneros Road, Goleta, with shuttle service provided to the Sharehouse.
Some alternatives:
For those unable to stay for the marketplace, a “to-go” soup option is available for a quick lunch stop.
Also on offer is a Sponsored Lunch Delivery for local businesses or groups. The package includes lunch for 5-15 people delivered within five miles of the Santa Barbara Sharehouse. The delivery, between 11:30 a.m. and 2 p.m., includes a 16 oz, to-go container of soup, a handmade ceramic bowl, bread, and a spoon for each guest.
Empty Bowls benefits the Foodbank and its mission to end hunger and transform the health of Santa Barbara County. Proceeds from this event will directly support the Foodbank’s efforts to provide healthy groceries, fresh produce, and essential nutrition education to those in need.
Community members can sign up for volunteer in roles such as set-up, service, and clean-up. Interested volunteers can sign up at FoodbankSBC.org/VolunteerSouthCounty or email Kelly Smith at ksmith@foodbanksbc.org.
