A SpaceX rocket’s launch scheduled from Vandenberg Space Force Base has been pushed to at least Thursday

The rocket carrying 27 Starlink satellites is set to lift off between 2:45 p.m. and 6:45 p.m. Thursday from Space Launch Complex-4 on South Base.

The team initially targeted Tuesday and then Wednesday for the mission, before halting both attempts.

While SpaceX hasn’t said the reason, weather likely played a factor in the postponements.

Rain doesn’t necessarily force the team to halt the countdown, but windy conditions and clouds that trigger lightning as the rocket rises are among constraints that can keep a launch vehicle on the ground.

Once it does lift off, the first-stage booster, making its 36th flight, will land on the Of Course I Still Love You droneship positioned in the Pacific Ocean.

A live webcast of the mission is scheduled to begin about 10 minutes before liftoff at spacex.com/launches and on X @SpaceX.

The delay also has moved the date of Vandenberg’s next Falcon rocket launch, now targeting late Saturday night or early Sunday morning. That rocket also is set to deliver Starlink satellites.
