The launch of a Falcon 9 rocket and a pair of German military satellites from Vandenberg Space Force Base has been delayed at least day.

The team will now try for Sunday, with the 83-minute launch window opening at 5:11 a.m. at Space Launch Complex-4 on South Base.

SpaceX called off Saturday’s launch attempt “to allow for additional pre-flight checkouts.”

After finishing its chores, the first-stage booster will return to Vandenberg to land near the launch site.

Residents in Santa Barbara, San Luis Obispo and Ventura counties may hear sonic booms from the booster’s trek back to the Central Coast.

The rocket will carry two German military satellites, SARah-2 and SARah-3.

They will join SARah-1, which launched from Vandenberg in June 2022.

Deployment of the satellites should occur less than 30 minutes after liftoff.

SpaceX said a live webcast of the Vandenberg mission is scheduled to begin on the SpaceX account of the site formerly known as Twitter about 15 minutes before liftoff.
