The St. Raphael School varsity girls volleyball team won the Christian Athletic League Championship for the first time in more than 10 years, topping Marymount 2-0 in the best-of-three league tournament finals at Bishop Diego.

The team is comprised of both 7th and 8th graders. The varsity team is formed at the beginning of each year and begins training and playing against other private schools in the Santa Barbara area.

“I am so proud of the girls and what they have accomplished together,” Principal Michelle Limb said. “Truly remarkable and something to be very proud of.”

The volleyball team consisted of Katie Sitolini, Stella Daoud, Layla McQuiggan, Jaymie Froelicher, Karyna Borden, Norah Ferguson, Bridgette Andersson, Eliana Urzua, Atasha Black, Violet Christman and Angela Clarin. The coach is Colleen Sitolini.

“This is a huge win for St. Raphael School and a display of the commitment we have to educate the whole child,” said Limb. “It’s a great example of what dedication and strong bonds can do.  I am very proud of them.”
