San Marcos junior Stella Ashamalla earned medalist honors with a 46 at Sandpiper Thursday to lead the Royals to a 246 to 304 victory of Royal.

“She had a really strong finish to the round, playing the last six holes at 4 over par,” San Marcos coach Sarah Ashton said. “Her positive mental approach really helped her steady play.”

Evelina Erickson was right behind with 47 and Fia Torrey shot a 49 for San Marcos.

“I was really pleased with the consistency all-around today, and I like where we are headed,” Ashton said.

Lompoc 270, Santa Barbara 289

Halee Sager shot a 46 at La Purisima Thursday to learn Lompoc to a win over Santa Barbara.

“Today was probably the most challenging course the girls will play all year,” Santa Barbara coach Ryan Throop said. “It was windy, greens were quick and the course was in very good condition. Lompoc managed their home course better than we did.”

For the Dons, “Junior Lauren Fitzgerald had an excellent round with a 48 given the conditions,” Throop said. “She parred hole 9 and was consistently long off the tee.”

Santa Barbara is now 2-3 overall and 2-1 in Channel League play.
