In prior years, a voter who missed the voter registration deadline didn’t get to vote in that election. Now, however, with Conditional Voter Registration, or Same Day Voter Registration, voters can update their registration, including political party preference, and vote until the close of polls on Election Day.
Individuals can verify their voter registration online at https://voterstatus.sos.ca.gov/.
Eligible citizens who need to register or re-register to vote within 14 days of an election can complete this process to register and vote at a county elections office or polling place. Their ballot will be processed and counted once the county elections office has completed the voter registration verification process and confirms the voter has not yet voted elsewhere in the current election.
Eligible citizens wanting to vote at their polling location on Election Day can use the Find My Polling Place lookup tool at www.sbcvote.com to locate the correct polling place for their current residence address. Voters are also able to change their political party preference at their polling place.
For questions on Same Day Registration or to locate their correct polling location, voters may contact the County Elections office at 1-800-722-8683.
