A strong defensive effort enabled Dos Pueblos to pull away in the second half Tuesday against a stubborn Lompoc team, 46-27, in Channel League action at home.
The Chargers led 18-16 at halftime, and then began slowly taking control.
Leila Chisholm led the defensive effort with eight steals to go along with many deflections leading to fast-break opportunities for Dos Pueblos. Lily Miers also deflected a lot of passes as the Chargers outscored Lompoc 29-11 in the second half.
“The girls are starting to realize the importance of team defense and rebounding,” Dos Pueblos coach Phil Sherman said. “I was proud of the defensive effort in the second half of this game.”
The Chargers are now 6-3 in league play, and 6-4 overall.
