The Rams opened Tri-Valley League play with a 10-8 win against Villanova Prep on Friday, taking seven of nine doubles sets.
The strong play of Cate senior co-captains Bryce Kim, Lucian Prinz, and Michael Armstrong was key in the doubles action. Armstrong and Prinz teamed to win three sets, and Kim paired with sophomore Conor O’Keefe to win two sets. O’Keefe also teamed with Arhum Kahn for a set win.
Asen Ou and Alex Tang also won a doubles set.
In singles, Jinming Wang, Jengus Ercil and Ethan Bloom each won a set for Cate.
League play continues Wednesday, when the Rams host Bishop Diego at 4 p.m.
