Cate’s No. 1 doubles team of Fritze Mayer and Emily May remained undefeated on the season, sweeping 6-1, 6-1, 6-0 as the Rams beat Laguna Blanca 12-6 on Thursday.

The No. 2 doubles team of Yuki Kobayashi and Ashi Kamra also swept three sets for Cate.

Laguna Blanca freshman Mina Yazadzhiev swept her three sets at No. 1 singles, dropping only one game. Laguna junior Claire Tolles won a set, as did the Owls’ doubles team of Katherine Ball, a sophomore, and Grace Trautwein, a freshman.

Cate juniors Aminah Hill and Ellie Tunnell both went 2-1 in singles play.

“Laguna came with, I think, the best team they’ve had in a while, but we had enough to get the job done today,” Cate coach Trevor Thorpe said. “They’re a young team, so we’re going to have to keep an eye on them, but we love the competition.”

Cate improves to 3-0, and will face Foothill Tech on Monday.
