Because 1st Thursday falls on New Years Day, Sullivan Goss Gallery in Santa Barbara will be hosting a reception for its three new exhibits, 5-8 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 3. The gallery will be closed New Years Day.
The gallery, at 11 E. Anapamu St., Santa Barbara, will start 2026 with a new show and publication for Oskar Fischinger. OSKAR FISCHINGER: A Deeper Look, and the illustrated book “OSKAR FISCHINGER” spotlight the innovative painting career of the pioneer of abstract animation and visual music, Oskar Fischinger (1900-1967).
“Together, these projects celebrate the rediscovery of a pioneering Los Angeles artist whose work is as relevant and fascinating today as it has ever been,” the gallery said.
The Fischinger exhibit runs Jan. 2-Feb. 23.
Sullivan Goss Gallery will also host a contemporary exhibit called Future Imperfect with work by Alvaro Maestro, Austin McCormick and Chris Peters.
Organized to coincide with the Fischinger show, the second exhibit asks the question: In 2026 or even 2036, what will be doing when we say we’re making art? The three artists offer very different answers.
Finally, the gallery will open its first salon exhibition of the new year, The Winter Salon, 2026 with works by:
