An 18-year-old man was arrested Wednesday on suspicion of fatally shooting a Lompoc man last month, according to the Lompoc Police Department.

A warrant was issued for the arrest of Jorge Tafoya Jr., and he was taken into custody at a residence on the 1300 block of West Pine Avenue, Sgt. Vincent Magallon said.

Tafoya is suspected of killing Maurilio Delacruz, 37, on Feb. 19 on the 1000 block of North H Street in Lompoc.

Delacruz suffered multiple gunshot wounds, and died at a local hospital, in what was the city’s first fatal shooting of the year.

Tafoya was booked into the Lompoc Jail on suspicion of homicide, Magallon said.
