The Starfish Connection nonprofit will host its second annual Polar Plunge benefit, Saturday, March 8, to help community members in need of emergent financial help.
In an event designed to recharge body and mind while helping others, Polar Plunge participants jump into the ocean as a group at Leadbetter Beach. Or just wade in or dip a toe in the chilly sea.
The morning event will include warm beverages and bites; a DJ; face painting; photo ops, Talk-o-Truck, and a commemorative beach towel.
Tickets start at $35, with group rates, and sponsorship opportunities as well. For tickets and information, visit thestarfishconnection.org.
Current sponsors are Beebe Wilkens Consulting, Creating Connections, Griffith Tax, Hospice of Santa Barbara, Just Peachy Photo Booth, Lazy Acres, Lynn Karlson, Ocean Oaks Lending, UCLA Health, Old Town Coffee, and Smart Media.
Funds raised in ticket sales and sponsorships help support The Starfish Connection, which provides crisis funding to individuals and families on the Central Coast with urgent financial needs that cannot be met by other organizations or government funding, Such needs can be for food, clothing, rent, bills, car repairs, etc.
Founded by Virginia Benson Wiglehey, The Starfish Connection identifies individuals to apply for emergent funding by partnering with other local nonprofit groups that offer direct-to-client services.
