Two experts will present information on Alzheimer’s disease and dementia during a free lecture, 4:30 p.m. April 17 at Dick DeWees Community and Senior Center, 1120 W. Ocean Ave., Lompoc.

Guest speakers for the Lompoc Hospital District Foundation presentation are Jordana Lawrence, program and education manager and research champion for the Alzheimer’s Association in Ventura County; and Laura DeLoye, program and education manager for the association in San Luis Obispo County.

Lawrence was previously a volunteer support group facilitator for eight years and helped her mother through the disease. DeLoye coordinates support groups, education, information and referrals for the association.

The two will discuss knowing the difference between dementia and Alzheimer’s disease. They will also address the latest research in dementia and Alzheimer’s.

The lecture is part of the foundation’s community education committee’s ongoing series of free, public presentations

In the foundation’s next lecture, Dr. Justin Chang will discuss Understanding Rotator Cuff Injuries, 6 p.m. May 15, also at the DeWees Center.
