The Santa Barbara Maritime Museum (SBMM) invites ocean lovers and trivia buffs to Kelp Forest Trivia Night, 7 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 9 at Night Lizard Brewing Company, 607 State St., Santa Barbara.
As a benefit for SBMM, $1 from every pint sold will be donated to the Maritime Museum. The event is free to attend and no registration required.
Focusing on the Santa Barbara Channel Islands’ underwater forests, the ocean-themed trivia night will spotlight the biodiversity, science, and conservation efforts surrounding local kelp forest ecosystems.
Teams and individuals can compete for prizes, bragging rights, and the chance to connect with fellow ocean advocates in a fun.
“Whether you’re a seasoned scuba diver, marine biologist, or casual coastline explorer, this event offers a perfect blend of education and entertainment,” according to SBMM.
Trivia night highlights include marine-themed questions across multiple round; prizes for winning teams; giveaways and SBMM swag; local craft beer available for purchase.
“Trivia Night is a fun way to engage our community and deepen understanding of our marine environment,” said Lis Perry, SBMM director of education. “Whether you’re an expert or just curious, you’re sure to walk away inspired, and maybe even a little more competitive.”
Trivia Night is held in conjunction with SBMM’s Redwoods of the Sea: Life in the Channel Islands Kelp Forests photography exhibit by Ralph A. Clevenger, on view at the museum through Jan. 4.
