The Goodland Pet Hospital

Question: What is the name of your business or practice?
Answer: The Goodland Pet Hospital
Q: What is the mission behind your business?
A: At The Goodland Pet Hospital, our mission is to provide exceptional veterinary care while treating every pet and every person with genuine kindness and compassion. We believe the best medicine happens when medical excellence is paired with trust, clear communication, and empathy.
Our goal is to help pets live longer, healthier lives while creating a welcoming environment where families feel supported through every stage of their pet’s life.
Q: What types of animals does your business cater to?
A: At The Goodland Pet Hospital we cater to dogs and cats
Q: Can you describe the services or products your business offers?
A: The Goodland Pet Hospital offers comprehensive veterinary care for every stage of a pet’s life. Our services include wellness exams, vaccinations, preventive care, diagnostics, surgery, dentistry, digital radiology, in-house laboratory testing, treatment for illnesses and injuries, and domestic and international travel health certificates.
We also provide nutritional guidance, behavioral support, and personalized care plans to help pets live long, healthy lives. Whether a family is bringing home a new puppy or kitten, preparing to travel with their pet, or caring for a beloved senior companion, our team is here to provide compassionate, high-quality care every step of the way.
Q: What makes your business or practice unique?
A: What makes The Goodland Pet Hospital unique is our combination of high quality medicine and a deeply personal, community centered approach to care. We are a privately owned hospital with long-standing roots in the Goleta area, and we value building lasting relationships with both pets and their families.
Our team takes the time to listen, explain options clearly, and tailor care plans to each individual patient rather than taking a one-size-fits-all approach.
We also place a strong emphasis on kindness, both in how we practice medicine and how we treat people. From preventive care to complex medical cases, our goal is to make every visit as calm, respectful, and supportive as possible for pets and their owners alike.
Q: What training, education and experience do you and your staff have? Do you hold any professional certifications?
A: Our veterinarians are licensed Doctors of Veterinary Medicine (DVMs) who have completed accredited veterinary education and licensing requirements. They bring experience in general practice medicine, surgery, dentistry, and preventive care, and regularly complete continuing education to stay current with advances in veterinary medicine.
Our veterinary technicians and support staff are highly trained through hands-on experience in general practice, with skills in patient care, anesthesia monitoring, diagnostics, and client communication.
As a team, we prioritize ongoing learning to ensure we continue providing high-quality, up-to-date care for our patients.
Q: What is your level of expertise regarding pet health and behavior?
A: Our team has a high level of expertise in both pet health and behavior, grounded in daily clinical experience and ongoing continuing education. Our veterinarians are trained in all aspects of general practice medicine, including preventive care, diagnostics, internal medicine, surgery, dentistry, and pain management.
We see a wide range of medical conditions in dogs, cats, and small companion animals, which allows us to apply evidence-based medicine to both routine and complex cases.
We also place a strong emphasis on behavior and stress reduction in the clinic. Our team is experienced in recognizing fear, anxiety, and stress in pets and uses low-stress handling techniques to help make visits as calm and safe as possible. We work closely with pet owners to address behavioral concerns and support healthy human-animal relationships through practical, compassionate guidance.
Q: What do you do if a pet is aggressive towards you, your staff, or other animals?
A: The safety of our patients, clients, and team is always our top priority. If a pet is showing signs of aggression, we use low-stress handling techniques and give the pet time and space to feel more comfortable. We tailor our approach to each individual animal and, when necessary, may recommend calming medications or sedation to safely complete an examination or procedure. Our goal is to provide compassionate care while keeping everyone safe.
Q: Are you currently accepting new clients?
A: Yes! We are currently accepting new clients and are always happy to welcome new pets and their families to The Goodland Pet Hospital. Whether it’s for preventive care, a sick visit, surgery, dentistry, or a travel health certificate, our team is here to provide compassionate, high-quality veterinary care.
Q: How do you help make your client feel at ease leaving their pet in your care?
A: We know leaving a pet can be stressful, so we focus on clear communication, compassion, and treating every pet as if they were our own. Our team takes the time to answer questions, explain procedures, and keep owners informed throughout their pet’s visit. We also use gentle, low stress handling techniques to help pets feel as comfortable and safe as possible while they’re in our care.
Q: Can you describe the process to adopt an animal at your shelter?
A: We stay connected with our community through our website, social media, email communications, and by building strong relationships with our clients.
Q: What are your hours of operation?
A: We are open Monday through Thursday from 8:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., and Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. We are closed on weekends.
Q: Is there anything you would like to tell our readers that was not mentioned above?
A: We’re grateful to be part of the Goleta and Santa Barbara community and to be trusted with the care of so many beloved pets. Our team is always here to support families through every stage of their pet’s life, and we welcome new clients who are looking for compassionate, high-quality veterinary care close to home.
