The Thunder 12-under all-star team from the Goleta Valley Girls Softball Association kicked off its season by winning the Moorpark All-Star Tune-up Tournament.
The Thunder rolled to a 9-1 victory over Camarillo 12U Gold in the championship game. The game was called after five innings on the mercy rule.
The Thunder dominated the competition in going 5-0 in the tournament. They scored 43 runs and banged out 58 hits while holding the opposition to just three runs.
“The Thunder coaching staff is very proud of the team’s work ethic and commitment to each other. The coaches also want to the thank the families and especially the moms for celebrating Mother’s Day out at the fields with the team,” said coach Cyrus Morici
Members of the team include: Sofia Bautista, Kyanne Bechler, Juliana Brunner, Kylie Buben, Elise Dreesmann, Scarlett Holian, Autumn Johnson, Piper Kittle, Madyson Meza, Emily Morici, Sophia Munoz, Dylann Ramirez, Alanah Salas.
The team’s coaches include Beau Brunner, Vince Holian, Justin Ramirez, Julie Kittle and Cyrus Morici.
The Thunder’s summer schedule includes tournaments in El Rio, Thousand Oaks, Temecula, Simi Valley, Arroyo Grande, Hanford, and Roseville.
