Members of the local basketball scene broke down the state of college basketball ahead of the NCAA Tournament at the Santa Barbara Athletic Round Table’s annual Prelude to March Madness Event at the Cabrillo Arts Pavillion.

Former NCAA Div. 1 and NBA head coach Tim Floyd was the event’s featured speaker while UCSB basketball coaches Joe Pasternack and Renee Jimenez spoke as well.

The event also included a silent auction and a live auction for LA Lakers and Clippers tickets hosted by Dave and Bill Pintard.

Floyd is a decorated coach at the collegiate level, earning eight NCAA Tournament appearances, two Sweet 16 runs and three conference Coach of the Year awards.

Pasternack, who grew up in New Orleans, looked up to Floyd as the head coach of the University of New Orleans Men’s Basketball program. The two coaches sat down for a “fireside chat” about the upcoming tournament and NCAA basketball as a whole.

Meanwhile, Jimenez provided an update on her UCSB Women’s Basketball program and gave her picks for the Final Four of the NCAA Women’s Tournament. She went with powerhouses UCLA, USC, South Carolina and UConn.

The event was presented by American Riveria Bank and WFG National Title Insurance Company.
