With less than a month until the 2024 election, the candidates are doing whatever they can to get their message out – including the Democratic vice-presidential nominee, Tim Walz.

On Sunday, the Minnesota Governor arrived at the Santa Barbara Airport on his way to a campaign fundraiser in Montecito.

The reception was one of the stops planned for Walz as he continues to campaign for Vice President Kamala Harris, the Democratic nominee for President of the United States.

Walz attended an event in San Diego before heading to Montecito and ended his day with a reception in Los Angeles, according to KEYT.

Meeting Walz on the Santa Barbara Airport tarmac was Congressman Salud Carbajal and his wife, Gina Carbajal. Then they headed to the Montecito fundraiser for the Harris Victory Fund, which had 150 to 200 attendees, Carbajal said.

He said the fundraiser was attended by a multi-generational audience and raised $2-3 million for the campaign.

“He is so down to Earth. So plain-spoken, I think he really connected with those that attended,” Carbajal told Noozhawk. “He laid out his vision and Vice President Harris’ vision for the future.

Carbajal said that Walz discussed issues like climate change, housing, the cost of healthcare, and reproductive health. He also laid out Harris’ plans to improve the economy and wages for workers.

“I think that he reaffirmed the energy that we’re seeing out there in our country and our state and here on the Central Coast for the Harris-Walz Administration,” Carbajal said. “I saw this energy, that momentum. It’s amazing to see that energy and that interest and it’s looking good.”
