United Way of Santa Barbara County (UWSBC) has named Tim Armour to its Board of Directors. Armour joined UWSBC’s marketing and communications committee, where he has helped enhance UWSBC’s messaging.
Armour was born in Santa Barbara and lived in Montecito until his family moved away in 1960. He grew up in Westchester County, New York.
Armour graduated from Gettysburg College in 1970, and spent three years as a supply officer in the U.S. Navy. After receiving an MBA from Columbia University in 1975, he began a marketing career, first with General Foods in product management, then with Citibank in New York City and Chicago. He later became president of Stein Roe Mutual Funds in Chicago and president of Morningstar Inc.
After he retired in 2008, Amour was on the board of Janus Capital in Denver, where he was the role interim CEO for seven months. He retired from the Janus Capital Board after nearly 10 years. He also spent six years on the AARP Services Board of Directors and retired after two terms. In February 2020, he retired after 10 years as chairman of the trustee board of AQR Funds in Greenwich, Connecticut.
Armour and his wife Holly moved back to the Santa Barbara area from Chicago in April 2014 and now live in Montecito.
