Todd Bowles passed away Oct. 11, 2025 in Santa Barbara, following an 18-month battle with cancer. Todd was born July 29, 1952 to Francis and Madeleine (Brookes) Bowles.
Todd graduated from Oneonta Senior High School in New York, and attended SUNY Oneonta in New York, and Santa Barbara City College.
An avid cyclist, Todd would often pop over to friends’ homes just to say hello during his daily rides. A tennis player, as well, he entered many tournaments and spent years teaching tennis, first at the city of Santa Barbara, then with La Cumbre Country Club. He particularly enjoyed working with children.
Todd was also a restorative exercise specialist and could talk about the topic for hours. He loved to make people laugh and would often put on huge acts of display to get a chuckle out of anyone.
He loved to read, and favored the quote: “We read so that we know we are not alone.”
A native of New York, he spent 50 years in Santa Barbara and never tired of it. He never lost his sense of humor.
Todd was predeceased by his parents, his brothers Rod and Jodd, and his sister Kris. He is survived by his nephews Nigel, Ben and Michael Bowles, and Darrin Palmatier; and niece Abigail (Bowles) Horsfall.
