The first Toes In The Cove, Rincon Longboard Classic, celebrating the rich heritage and culture of longboarding at Rincon Point, Carpinteria, will take place 7 a.m.-5 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 11 in the cove at Rincon Point.

An all-ages pro-am event, the 805-only longboard contest features divisions ranging from 17 and under to 65-plus. There is no charge to view the event.

The vision of the event is to bring together the top surfers in the 805 area code, along with special pro invitees.

Originally a fringe division in the annual Rincon Classic, the eclectic 805 longboard community has been asking for their own event for years.

Surf Happens, the producers of the Rincon Classic since 2001, have partnered with like-minded sponsors to bring a longboard-only event at the Queen of the Coast.

Toes In The Cove showcases a diversity of ages and categories honoring the tradition of old, and new school for one special day each year.

With two weeks left in the waiting period, organizers and sponsors voted Greenlight for Saturday 11/11. A reinforcing swell combined with good winds and weather are expected to provide optimal conditions for the event.

Toes In The Cove will include:

SurfnWear Beach House Expression Session featuring top longboarders from around the world.

Live commentating with local longboard legends Mary Osborne and Cole Robbins, along with masters of ceremony Brad J and Chris Keet.

Awards on the beach after each final with custom trophy fins by True Ames.

Beach cleanup at 1 p.m. hosted by Surf Happens Foundation.

An all-day raffle benefiting the Decker Family who are facing the financial and emotional hardship of childhood cancer. The raffle will have surf gear including Body Glove wetsuits, a new Channel Islands Surfboards longboard, and sponsor gear.

Thank you to headlining sponsor Cole Robbins Real Estate, presenting sponsors Body Glove and SurfnWear Beach House, and contributing sponsors Rincon Brewery, The Cove at Rincon, Channel Island Surfboards, True Ames, Dakine, and Red Wing Shoes.
