SBCC loaded the bases in the ninth on Saturday afternoon and Trevor Davis delivered a sacrifice fly to right to score Jacob Bravo and propel the Vaqueros to a 5-4 WSC North win at Oxnard.

The Vaqueros (8-5, 2-1) took the three-game series with Oxnard, 2-1. They’ve won two straight and five of their last six. The Condors fell to 3-11 and 1-2.

Jarred Greene went 3-5 and Bravo was 2-4 with a two-out, two-run double in the third that made it 2-1. Ryan Guardino went 2-5 to raise his average to .462, which is No. 9 in the state. He’s hit safely in all 11 games he’s played this year.

The Vaqueros loaded the bases in the ninth on singles by Kyle Froemke, Bravo and Greene. Davis followed with his game-winning sacrifice fly.

Matthew Strother came on in relief with the bases loaded and two outs in the first. He got Trevor Hammond to ground out to second. Strother pitched 6.1 innings, holding the Condors to two runs on four hits with four strikeouts and two walks. His ERA is 2.81.

Jake McBride (2-0) pitched the last two innings, striking out three and getting out of a bases-loaded jam in the ninth by getting Mark Hernandez to fly out to center to end the game.

Oxnard took a 3-2 lead in the fourth on Taylor Tractenberg’s RBI single. The Vaqueros took a 4-3 lead on two unearned runs in the seventh. Guardino doubled home Noah Williamson and scored on a sacrifice fly by Alonzo Rubalcaba.

The Condors tied it, 4-4, in the eighth when Austin Maciel singled, stole second, went to third on a flyout and scored on Anthony Magdaleno’s single.

The Vaqueros will play three non-conference games this week, starting Tuesday at Fullerton at 2 p.m.
