The Lompoc Police Department has added two new officers to its team — Yobanie Daniel Martinez and Luis Alonso Ruiz.

The officers completed their training at the Allan Hancock College Police Academy. Their graduation ceremony was held June 5 at Hancock College’s Public Safety Training Complex in Lompoc.

A formal swearing-in ceremony took place at Lompoc City Hall, where Chief Kevin Martin and the city clerk administered the oath of office to the newly appointed officers in the presence of their families and friends.

Starting their training in early January , the officers completed 830 hours of intensive instruction.

They successfully navigated 14 practical scenarios; passed 26 written examinations; and demonstrated proficiency in law enforcement skills, including arrest and control tactics, physical conditioning, report writing, and emergency vehicle operations.

Additionally, their training regimen included physical exercise, ranging from sit-ups and pull-ups to push-ups and endurance running.

The new officers will now take a comprehensive 21-week field-training program within the Lompoc Police Department, marking the start of their careers as Lompoc Police officers.
