One man was killed and five people were injured in a two-vehicle crash early Saturday morning on Highway 154.

At approximately 1:45 a.m., personnel from the Santa Barbara County Fire Department and California Highway Patrol responded to the crash on Highway 154 north of San Antonio Creek Road, fire Capt. Scott Safechuck said.

The adult male driving a white Nissan Altima was pronounced dead at the scene, Safechuck said.

Two adults in the second vehicle, a black Infinity SUV, were critically injured in the crash.

Three other adults in that vehicle had moderate injuries, Safechuck said.

Three ambulances transported the five patients to Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital for treatment.

CHP officers were investigating the circumstances surrounding the crash and Highway 154 was closed in both directions for a time while emergency crews were at the scene.
