A U.S. Marine was arrested Thursday on attempted-murder and other charges in connection with a shooting in early March in Santa Barbara.

Jack Flores Edgerton, 25, of Ventura is suspected in a late-night incident that occurred on March 1, according Sgt. Ethan Ragsdale of the Santa Barbara Police Department.

Officers responded to a shots-fired call in the area of 200 South Voluntario Street, Ragsdale said, and located several potential victims, who were all uninjured.

“The initial investigation revealed that an occupant of a vehicle had fired several rounds at the victims and then fled the area,” Ragsdale said.

Edgerton was taken into custody on a warrant at the Camp Pendleton U.S. Marine Corps base in Northern San Diego County, and later booked into the Santa Barbara County Jail, according to jail records.

He was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder with a gang enhancement; possession of a loaded firearm; and committing a felony with a firearm, Ragsdale said.

He remained in custody Friday afternoon, with bail set at just over $1 million.

“This is an active investigation, and no further information is available at this time,” Ragsdale said.
