Briana McKnight posted a double-double of 14 kills and 14 digs, leading the UC Santa Barbara women’s volleyball to a four-set win over Cal State Fullerton in its first match at the Thunderdome in a month.

The scores were 25-20, 23-25, 25-17, 25-19.

“It was kind of a weird match,” said UCSB coach Matt Jones. “Cal State Fullerton played really well and served really tough, so credit to them on that. We just kind of had that one set that we couldn’t quite claw back and steal from them, but, at the end of the day, we got the job done.”

The Gauchos improved to 3-0 in the Big West and 13-2, their best start since 2019.

McKnight hit at a .379 clip, making only three errors on 29 swings. She added two aces and two blocks.

Seter Grace McIntosh also finished with a double-double of 25 assists and a team-high 19 digs.

Michell Ohwobete had 12 kills while contributing a team-high three aces.

Tasia Farmer was a big part of the team’s efforts in the front row. She totaled seven blocks while adding on nine kills.

In the back row, Macall Peed continued her 36-match double-digit dig streak with 17 digs.

The Gauchos return to The Thunderdome on Saturday to take on UC Irvine at 7 p.m.

The Gauchos will welcome back their alumni and honor the Big West Championship teams from 2003 and 2013.
