The UCSB baseball team will enter Big West play this weekend on a hot streak.
The Gauchos won their seventh in a row Monday night, blasting three home runs in a 13-6 victory at Loyola Marymount.
Ivan Brethowr, Aaron Parker Nick Oakley cracked homers, giving UCSB 22 in 15 games and seven in its last three wins. Brethowr and Parker lead the team with five apiece.
Parker led Monday’s offense, going 3 for 4 with four RBIs. Brethowr was 2-5 with two RBI and two runs scored.
Jonah Sebring and Oakley each went 2-4 and drove in three runs.
LMU used 11 pitchers and the Gauchos (12-3) had 14 hits against eight of them. The also drew 11 walks.
UCSB starter Tyler Bremner picked up his second win. He struck out seven in five innings and allowed two runs on three hits and one walk.
Alex Schrier had a rocky 1.1 innings of relief, allowing four runs on three hits. Sam Whiting entered and allowed one hit in 1.2 innings.
Elliot Gallegos pitched a perfect ninth and struck out two.
On Sunday, the Gauchos swept a non-league doubleheader at Cal Poly, 12-4 and 8-4.
Brethowr led UCSB at the plate, hitting two home runs and a double and driving in a team-high six RBIs across the two games.
The Gaucho bullpen combined to work 17 scoreless innings. Carter Benbrook earned the win in game one, with Hudson Barrett getting the game-two victory.
UCSB opens Big West play with a three-game series against Cal State Bakersfield. The first game is Friday at 5:05 p.m.
