The 34-ranked UCSB men’s tennis team bounced back from their lone loss of the season on Thursday, kicking off their trip to San Diego with a 4-1 dominant win at San Diego State with singles dominance.
After losing the doubles point, with a 2-1 Aztec edge in sets, the Gauchos ran off four singles matches to clinch the win, leaving two matches unfinished.
Luka Mrsic, at No. 5 singles, scored the first UCSB point, with a dominant 6-1, 6-1 win over San Diego State’s Bora Sengul.
Other Gaucho singles winners:
Phillip Jordan, at No. 1, beat Johannes Seeman, 2-6, 6-1, 7-6.
NCAA 114th-ranked player Pablo Masjuan, at No. 2, beat def. Chikaya Sato, 6-1, 6-4.
Conrad Brown, at No. 6, beat Andre Saleh, 6-4, 7-6.
The Gauchos are now 10-1 on the season. They will remain in the area and open the Big West season against UC San Diego on Sunday in La Jolla.
