The UC Santa Barbara Police Department is investigating a rape and strangulation that occurred on campus Saturday night.
The incident allegedly occurred in campus housing around 10 p.m. between the suspect and the survivor who met at a party in Isla Vista earlier that night, according to an alert sent to UCSB community members Sunday morning.
The alleged assault occurred about an hour before it was reported to the department.
Investigators did not share any details about the suspect but said the incident is under investigation.
