The UC Santa Barbara Softball team got three hits from senior Alana Snow in a 7-6 loss to the UC Riverside Highlanders Sunday.

The Gauchos were trailing 6-0 in the fifth inning when they first put runs on the board. Santa Barbara’s offense started clicking and put up five runs, including a two-run single off the bat of Alana Snow and a two-run single from Ashley Donaldson.

The Highlanders expanded their lead to 7-5 before the Gauchos offense got back to work, cutting into that lead in the sixth. UC Santa Barbara scored once on an RBI single off the bat of McNally, which brought the score to 7-6 in favor of the Highlanders.

The Gauchos were unable to get any closer, as neither team scored again in the ballgame.

Freshman Ainsley Waddell got the ball to start for Gauchos and took the loss. The southpaw went six innings one earned, on eight hits, allowing two walks and striking out two.

In addition to her three hits, Snow had two RBI to lead the Gauchos. Senior Madelyn McNally put together a standout performance at the dish as well, going 2-for-4 with an RBI.

Senior Ashley Donaldson also helped out for UCSB, putting together one hit in four trips to the plate while adding two RBI.

The Gauchos will host CSUN next week for the final week of The Big West regular season.

The Gauchos and Matadors will play a doubleheader on Friday, May 10 and conclude the series on Saturday, May 11.
