Men’s volleyball players from UC Santa Barbara have made U.S. team rosters for international indoor competitions this summer.

Sophomore George Bruening was a member of the USA Volleyball U23 National Team that took a silver medal at the NORCECA Pan American Cup in Guatemala City on Sunday. The 6-foot-10 Bruening played at the opposite position.

The U.S. lost a five-set heartbreaker to Dominican Republic in the title match. The scores were 25-23, 21-25, 23-25, 25-19, 16-14.

Santa Barbara High alum and current Stanford player Alex Rottman was an alternate on the squad.

Gauchos Riggs Guy (6-3 outside hitter) and Josh Aruya (6-9 middle) have been named to the U.S. U21 Men’s Team for the U21 Pan Am Cup in Calgary, Canada, Aug. 5-10.

Also on the squad is Dos Pueblos alum and UC Irvine standout Micah Goss (6-6, MB). He recently played for a U.S. team at the World University Games in Germany.

Local Beach Volleyball

San Marcos seniors Evyn Miller and Samantha Fallon won the California Beach Volleyball Association 18U tournament at East Beach on Sunday to earn a bid for the CBVA Fall Championships and an AVP Youth Championships.

Miller/Fallon defeated Lola Heckman of Santa Barbara High and Kiley Bowman of Paso Robles in the final, 28-25.
