The UC Santa Barbara women’s basketball team was outscored 18-4 in overtime and suffered a 74-60 loss at UC Irvine in a Big West game on Wednesday.
The game was tied at 56 after four quarters.
UC Irvine capitalized on Gaucho turnovers to go on a 14-2 run in the overtime.
UCSB committed 22 turnovers, and the Anteaters scored 28 points off the miscues.
Diaba Konate scored 20 points and Hunter Hernandez had 12 to lead the Anteaters.
Alexis Whitfield led the Gauchos with a career-high 17 points and 12 rebounds. Alexis Tucker added 10 points.
The Gauchos had a tough night from the three-point line, making just one of 16 attempts.
UCSB falls to 9-5 in the Big West and 16-8 overall. UC Irvine is 12-2 and 20-5
The Gauchos will look to bounce back with a return home to the Thunderdome, facing UC Riverside on Saturday, February 18 at 4 p.m. Saturday is UCSB’s annual Pink Game for breast cancer awareness.
