Camille Kiss, Amelia Honer and Kira Reuter represented UCSB Women’s Tennis at the 2023 ITA All-American Championships this week in North Carolina.

The championships consisted of some of the best college-level tennis players in the nation.

Kiss began the tournament in the pre-qualifying singles bracket, where she came from behind for a three-set victory over Maria Juliana Parra Romero of Liberty University.

After Parra Romero won the first set 6-3, Kiss captured the next two sets, 6-1, 6-2.

The win sent Kiss into the Round of 64 for a matchup against UCLA’s Ahmani Guichard. The No. 13 seed, Guichard won in straight sets, 6-4, 6-3.

Honer, meanwhile, drew U.S. Open Junior champion and No. 2-ranked newcomer Katherine Hui in the qualifying bracket.

The high pedigree of Hui didn’t seem to bother Honer, as the Gaucho came out victorious after three tightly contested sets, 7-5, 6-7(5), 6-3.

In the Round of 64, Honer engaged in another three-set match but fell to Vanderbilt’s Bridget Stammel, 4-6, 6-4, 7-5.

Honer then took the court in the Main Draw with her doubles partner Kira Reuter, opening up against Anna Zyryanova and Sophia Abrams of North Carolina State. The Wolfpack duo got the best of the Gauchos, winning 7-5, 6-3.

Reuter and Honer capped off the week for UCSB with a two-set loss in the consolation bracket against USC’s Eryn Cayetano and Emma Charney, 6-3, 6-3.

Kiss, Honer, Reuter and the rest of the Gauchos will compete in the Women of Troy Invite at USC on Friday.
