The schedule maker came up big for UCSB baseball, lining up 34 games at home in a 58-game regular season for 2021.
The Gauchos, who are 34-4 at home during the past two seasons, will open their season at Caesar Uyesaka Stadium with a three-game series against Santa Clara, starting Friday, Feb. 19 at 3 p.m.
Because of county and state health regulations during the COVID-19 pandemic, spectators will not be allowed to attend games. With the absence of fans in the stands, the Gauchos decided against playing night games at home this season.
The nonconference portion of the home schedule includes a four-game set with Oregon and a single game against No. 2-ranked UCLA of the Pac-12. Pepperdine and USF of the West Coast Conference also are scheduled to visit.
In the Big West, teams will play weekend four-game series at one venue to reduce travel. Doubleheaders will be played on Saturdays. The Gauchos will host UC Davis, CSUN, Cal Poly, UC Riverside and Cal State Bakersfield. Their away series are at Cal State Fullerton, Hawaii, UC San Diego, Long Beach State and UC Riverside.
For the first time in program history, UCSB has been picked as the conference favorite.
